Gdansk
Gdańsk is a city with a deep connection to the sea. It has brought people from different cultures together for centuries. In the past, it was a centre of Hanseatic trade, and even today, it promotes the idea of the Hanseatic League by celebrating International Hanseatic Day.
Maritime heritage is still alive in Gdańsk, from the famous Crane to historic ships moored in marinas managed by Gdańsk Sports Centre.
Today, in the era of sustainable tourism, it is important to connect history with modern travel. One of the greatest symbols of Gdańsk’s seafaring and shipbuilding traditions is the Sail Training Ship “Generał Zaruski”. This beautifully restored sailing ship inspires and teaches young sailors. Gdańsk Sports Centre plays a major role in organizing sailing trips on the STS Generał Zaruski, promoting sustainable tourism and helping people connect with the beauty of the sea.
These special voyages focus not only Gdańsk’s maritime heritage but also the importance of protecting nature. It is crucial to highlight combination of tradition with living world surrounding us. That’s why we want to be closer to it, to feel the waves, and to practice mindfulness on the water, finding peace and balance while sailing. In BOATMAN project our main goal is encourage people to enjoy health-promoting and eco-friendly tourism.
