Tjust Traditional Boats

Tjust Allmogebåtar works to preserve and maintain traditional boat types from the Tjust region, along with the boatbuilding and fishing traditions surrounding them. In addition to collecting, repairing, preserving, and using traditional boats from Tjust, the association also builds new boats as a way to keep knowledge and craftsmanship alive.

Tjust Allmogebåtar is based on Rågö in the northern Tjust Archipelago, near Loftahammar. There, the association has established a boat slip and workshop. On Rågö, their work is an important part of the island’s cultural offerings, including an exhibition and museum.
