Boatbuilding workshops HAB

The Association of Maritime Cities and Municipalities participates in the international INTERREG South Baltic Programme 2021-2027. As part of the actions taken to popularise broadly understood maritime culture, a place for carrying out shipbuilding work has been made available.

On the premises of the Conrad Yacht Club at ul. Przełom 26/80-643 Gdańsk, a meeting place for sailors, enthusiasts and local lovers of the sea has been created. Anyone interested in working on yachts and their renovations can visit the shipyards and try their hand at shipbuilding work. Classes are conducted by experienced shipbuilders. They allow you to familiarise yourself with shipbuilding techniques and learn how to use them in practice. The workshops are conducted in a way that allows you to adjust the scope and complexity of activities depending on the skills and physical abilities of the participant. Selected works can be carried out by people with various disabilities. Both tools and materials needed for the activities undertaken are available free of charge.

It is possible to:

– tinker in the workshop by processing small wooden elements using simple hand tools or more complex mechanical tools

– participate in shipbuilding work as part of the renovation of one of the wooden yachts provided by the shipowners.

All classes are free of charge.

The Wooden Boat Pier, Västervik

The Wooden Boat Pier was established 10 years ago to spark interest in the craftsmanship behind beautifully restored wooden boats and to give visitors to the city of Västervik insight into the history of traditional boats and the Tjust Archipelago.

Tjust Traditional Boats

Tjust Allmogebåtar works to preserve and maintain traditional boat types from the Tjust region, along with the boatbuilding and fishing traditions surrounding them. In addition to collecting, repairing, preserving, and using traditional boats from Tjust, the association also builds new boats as a way to keep knowledge and craftsmanship alive.
